Hot Tipping is similar to Foil Stamping in that a heated die is utilized with a foil roll leaf to transfer foil to a mark. However, unlike Foil Stamping, Hot Tipping does not press into the part, but rather only coats or “tips” the surface of the marking area. This practice is common on plastic and leather parts.
